As Pike County's only local Internet Service Provider, PikeNet, Ltd. is dedicated to providing the best and most cost effective service possible to all of our customers. Our acceptable use policy is designed to protect both PikeNet's customers, and the Internet Community in General from unacceptable uses of the internet, while maintaining the basic rights of freedom of speech and expression. Please read the following terms and conditions carefully. Dial-up Connections
While you may access your account from more than one location (home, office, etc.) you may have only one connection active at any given time. Logging in simultaneously from multiple locations is not allowed. Basic Dial-up Access Accounts allow for non-continuous connections and are not intended to provide a permanent, dedicated connection to the Internet. Any connection that has been maintained beyond the 8 hour limit will be reset. If you require a permanent, dedicated Internet connection, please see our rate sheet or call for details. It is a violation of the TOS to stay logged on to our internet service when you are not actively using your account.
Any connection that has been idle for more than 10 minutes, will be reset.Web Hosting
Personal Web sites are hosted free with our Standard Dial-up Access accounts, (see our Services Page for complete details). Any objectionable or illegal material is strictly prohibited. Any such material will be removed without warning. Customers interested in a commercial Web site with domain hosting should select one of our Commercial Web Hosting packages. Reselling of disk space for any purposes, including the hosting of other sites, is not allowed. You are allowed 10 megabytes of disk space.Site Content
No business or personal site shall contain material which is illegal, illicit, in violation of copyright laws, or otherwise considered to be offensive to the general public. To preserve the integrity of Pikenet, Ltd. and its customers, we reserve the right to remove any sites that contain any of the aforementioned material. Repeated violations of this policy may result in termination of the account and the deletion of all personal material stored on our Web server.Spamming/Attacking
PikeNet will not allow mass e-mail (spamming) or unsolicited mail through our server. Doing so will result in immediate termination of your Internet Access.
Any attempt to attack or perceived attempt to attack any system via your PikeNet account will result in immediate termination of your Internet Access and possible legal action. This includes: Attempting to gain unlawful entry, spoofing, spamming, denial of service attack(s), username/password theft, port scanning, or any other use not specifically permitted in writing by the administrator of the system, either public or private.Delinquent Accounts
Receipt of payment renews your contract with PikeNet. Accounts not paid by the Late Date shown on the billing statement are subject to Temporary Disconnection. If we disconnect your account, there will be a $10 reconnection fee charged. When making payment, be sure to inform the Business Office that your account was disconnected. This will ensure timely restoration of service. After 30 days, your account will be permanently removed. All personal material; web sites, e-mail, etc. stored on our server will be destroyed. To re-open a terminated account, your balance must be paid in full, and the reconnection fee must be paid. General Conditions All actions and activities are the responsibility of the account holder. PikeNet assumes no responsibility for any actions or harm suffered from the use of said accounts. In addition, the account holder is responsible for all connection and usage charges associated with the account and must take all reasonable precautions to safeguard passwords from unauthorized use.Early Contract Termination
Any accounts that are paid for up to 3 months in advance and are terminated before next scheduled due date are subject to a $25.00 service charge. This includes all limited, unlimited, web-hosting, and e-mail accounts.The re-sale of any service provided by PikeNet is strictly prohibited. These services include, but are not limited to:

If you want to change your service plan, you must call the Business Office at 217-285-9669 or send e-mail to netadmin@pikenet.net. All plan changes will be put in effect for the next billing period. While there is no charge to upgrade your service plan, there is a $10.00 administrative fee for decreasing your monthly service plan.You may cancel your service with an effective date at the end of any month by contacting the Business Office at 217-285-9669. To have your service reinstated, you must come to the business office and fill out another application sheet. A $10 reconnection fee will be charged.
PikeNet reserves the right to change this Terms of Service at any time and without notice. The most current version can be found on our Web site. The terms set forth in this document supersede any previous policy.
