Phone Company Additional Charges

Local phone companies may charge users additional costs. We have found that often people without a 285 prefix will be charged a per minute rate by the phone company. If you are a heavy internet user, then this could lead to hefty phone bills. The best thing you can do is to check your local phone bill. Most of the time, it will have your local phone rate on it. If it is a per minute charge, call your phone company and see if they have any other options. Usually users can get their bill switched from a per minute rate to a per call rate.

Example:

Let's say that John is online 240 minutes a month, but only made 30 calls(10 daytime, 20 night time) with the following pricing:

$.04 cents per minute $9.60
$.11 cents per call (daytime)
$1.10
$.05 cents per call (night time)
$1.00
Total on per call rate $2.10

Total Savings $7.50

If you have any more questions, please contact your local phone company.
